Welcome to the June 2008 edition of the MassYoga newsletter.
In this newsletter we invite you to a special event being funded through the Mass Yoga Karma Grant Program. Made possible by your membership and donations, grants are given to teachers who wish to bring yoga to underserved populations.

Our latest grant supports special workshops on Yoga for Autism Syndrome Disorder (ASD) in children. Attendees to the conference and mini-sessions (see below) will learn yoga techniques that are being used at the sVYASA Institute in Bangalore, India to help caregivers of and children with ASD. The sessions are open to all, and donations are accepted. See the full article, below.

Yoga Conference on Autism (ASD)
June 30, July 1
Nataraja Yoga Center and Sadhu Vaswani Center are pleased to offer a Yoga conference on Autism Syndrome Disorder. At this conference you will learn how yoga can benefit autistic children. N.V. Raghuram will present the results of research conducted at sVYASA University . The research investigated the psychological and neurological aspects of Yoga, the benefits of Yoga to autistic children and the effect on mental functions of children with various practices of yoga.
The conference is appropriate for teachers, support staff, and parents. Children are invited for individual sessions July 1. There are several ways to participate. Monday, June 30, 8-10AM Mini Conference in Manchester, NH Monday, June 30, 12-4PM Full Conference in Dracut, MA Monday, June 30, 7-9:30PM Mini Conference in Dracut, MA Tuesday, July 1, 9AM-5PM Individual sessions with autistic or mentally challenged children. Tuesday, July 1, 7-9:30PM Intro to Stress Management, also known as SMET & Cyclic Meditation, is the special sequence of gentle asana - postures intertwined with relaxation techniques. This practice offers relaxation 2 to 3 times what we get from normal sleep. This is an introductory session. There is a 5 day program for any group wishing wishing to receive training.
